  1. Which variations of xDSL technology is Qwest offering? And Who is responsible for the IP addressing?
  • Qwest offer ADSL service. The subscriber's chosen ISP is responsible. That means our ADSL's are compatible with Qwest DSL but you still need note that it's ADSL over POTS or ADSL over ISDN. Then we can ship you the right version as you need.
  1. I tried the router with the virtual server setting by ID 1 Public 80 Private 80 TCP 62.3.100.222 and the web browser just came to the password of the wireless router configuration page. Is there no way to tell it that 62.3.100.217 is directed to 192.168.1.10 a web server on the ethernet port?(AR11, AWR51)
  • Yes,it doesn't support more than one external IP address for WAN port in these model. Therefore you don't have chance to do that 62.3.100.217 is directed to 192.168.1.10.
  1. How can I make any web site appear on 62.3.100.222 which is the routers address when the browsers keep seeing the router?(AR41-2, AWR51-2)
  • You can set 62.3.100.222:80 for internal web server and set 62.3.100.222:81 for the router's configuration web. You can set the port number of router's configuration web from Misc Configuration->HTTP server access->HTTP server port = 81.
  1. Is there any setting required for this Hacker attack prevention? (AR11-9 and AR41-9)
  • No,there is not.The Hacker prevention is always enabled for PPPoE and PPPoA mode.If you want to see who's coming please set setting in web's Basic config->Log table display setting.
  1. Does ADSL ROUTER support "Block WAN Ping" function? (AR11-9 and AR41-9?
  • Yes,it does. The blocked ICMP is enabled as default and you can modify it in web's Basic config->user profile->remote management.

  1. How can I know the firewall is enabled or not? (AR11-9 and AR41-9)
  • The firewall is always enabled. If you want to see who's coming please set setting in web's Basic config->Log table display setting. There are several kind of attacks to be tested. These attacks are general attacks, stealth attack, Trojan attack, 1-1024 TCP attacks , UDP attacks and these all packets are blocked by the router.
  1. What is ADSL2+ ?
  • ADSL2+ reached consent at the ITU in January 2003, joining the ADSL2 standards family as G.992.5. ADSL2+ doubles the downstream bandwidth, increasing the downstream data rate to as much as 25 Mbps. ADSL2+ specifies a downstream frequency up to 2.2 MHz. The result is a significant increase in data rates on shorter phone lines.
  1. What is port should I set on my router for some application?
  • A very useful guide that covers many applications for port forwarding can be found at PortForward.com.
  1. How to find maximum MTU?
  • The MTU setting controls the maximum ethernet packet size your PC will send. Why a limit? because although larger packets can be constructed and sent, Your ISP and Internet backbone routers and equipment will fragment any larger than their limit, then these parts are re-assembled by the target equipment before reading. This fragmentation, and re-assembly is not optimal. http://www.dslreports.com/faq/695
  1. Why the router disconnect in a fix period of time?
  • Some ISP use this mechanism for some reason. That is a normal phenomenon. The router will reconnection in a short time when ¡§always on¡¨was set.
  1. I need connect router VPN router behind of router ADSL, what is the port number I need to redirect in ADSL for VPN router? <2008-7>
  • For PPTP VPN type you need to set 1723 port number for ADSL router with NAT transveral.
For IPsec VPN type the ADSL router need be set at bridge mode for VPN router without NAT transversal.

  1. What is Powerline Networking?
  • With Powerline device, virtually any device found in the home such as PCs, printers, TVs, VCRs, set-top boxes, security systems can be easily networked together through the existing power connection. Powerline Networking doesn't require any new wires and is both robust and affordable. This high-speed powerline communications technology now provides a 14 Mbps data rate over existing powerlines in the home.
  1. What are the benefits of networking devices found in the home?
  • By networking devices, Internet access and high bandwidth services like xDSL can be shared. Additionally, the convenience of connecting any device through a power outlet will enable exciting new products with breakthrough levels of entertainment, information access and telephony services.
  1. Is Powerline product proven?
  • Yes. PowerPacket has been fully implemented in silicon and tested in the field. Intellon(Chipset vendor) has field tested PowerPacket in homes across North America and Europe covering thousands of communications paths between outlets. Test results have shown close to a 100% outlet connectivity success rate.
  1. What is the maximum wire length that powerline technology can communicate over?
  • ACEEX has done extensive real world testing in homes over a wide range of size. The largest home tested exceeded 7000 square feet and ACEEX's powerline technology had no problems communicating between nodes separated by the maximum distance.
  1. Is ACEEX's powerline technology compatible with other home networking technologies (including phone line, powerline, and RF)?
  • ACEEX's Powerline technology can co-exist with phone line and RF networks with no known problems. Other powerline technologies using FSK signaling will be treated as noise by our Powerline products and do not pose a problem. ACEEX's Powerline products operate in a different frequency band than powerline control technologies such as X-10, CEBus, and Lonworks and will coexist with them in the same home.

  1. Will Powerline technology interfere with ADSL services?
  • No, Powerline products do not interfere with ADSL services because the radiated emissions are below FCC limits and, in fact, below many existing RF signals in the same band. In addition, our signal does not share the same band with the most popular DSL techniques: DSL-Lite and ADSL.
  1. How does Powerline networking handle co-interference between 2 adjacent homes using powerline technology? How is eavesdropping prevented?
  • ACEEX's powerline products use 56-bit DES security technology to ensure network separation between homes. To enable the 56-bit DES encryption on ACEEX's powerline products, you must run the configuration utility on each and every ACEEX's Powerline product.
  1. How much coupling is there between phases on the powerline?
  • Extensive field testing by ACEEX has shown that the attenuation between phases is minimal. The average data rate degradation that results from crossing phases in the same home is approximately 4%. No additional equipment is required to enable communication between phases.
  1. What happens if the powerline characteristics change during a communications session, like when a hair dryer is turned on?
  • If the powerline characteristics degrade during a session, Powerline product will sense the change and automatically adapt to provide the most reliable connection. When normal conditions return, it resets to its original configuration.
  1. How does ACEEX powerline technology handle node addressing on the network?
  • ACEEX powerline technology adheres to standard Ethernet addressing.

  1. Does Powerline work across different electrical phases? Does it pass through electrical meters?
  • Yes, but it is recommended to use a phase coupler device to connect the phases and to improve data transfer possibility. If the wirings of the two phases are near each other, it should work without the coupler. Powerline signals generally pass through electrical meters. Of course, there may be meters which will disable Powerline communication. We recommend to test the connectivity with Uitlity Kit.
  1. It seems somewhere on the way between two Powerline devices the signal is lost.
  • Make sure there is no transformer on the way between the devices. Powerline signal cannot pass through a transformer. You will have to bypass it, using some other kind of connection. For example you can connect the two segments on the opposite sides of the transformer with ethernet cable (2 Powerline Ethernet Adapters), or with Wireless 2 Powerline Access Points.
  1. What is the maximum distance of two devices in a Powerline Network?
  • We recommend using distances up to 200 meters. Under ideal conditions it is possible to reach longer distances. This depends on the type of cable and the quality of the joints. Diagnostics Kit will help you find out the maximal distance between the most distant outlets, so that you still reach sufficient throughput.
  1. How many adapters can we have in a Powerline network segment?
  • For achieving the best performance (speed up to 85 Mbit/s) you can have only 16 adapters in the network segment.
  1. Why the throughput of Powerline 200M bridge is bad? (2006-12)
  • Please follow the steps to check the problem.
    1. Due to the master/slave structure, you need to avoid plugging two Powerline bridge in the same time, so you had better plug the Powerline to the power outlet sequence.
    2. Please unplug the Powerline bridge and plug again, please remember plug them in sequence.
    3. Check the Powerline utility and check the throughput again.
  1. Why the Powerline 200M Utility can not work for 2000, XP? (2007-08)
  • Please follow the steps to check the problem.
    1. Due to the new powerline 200M utility need install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 too.
    2. Please check the control --> program add/remove to make sure your system already installed .NET Framework 1.1 or later version.
    3. If no, please download the new .NET framework from Microsoft website or install .NET framework 1.1 from the CD.
  1. How many devices can connect in the LAN for PLB200 ? (2007-10)
  • Powerline Network Topology up to 64 PLB200 devices per power line network and each device can provide 64-bridged computers.
  1. How many devices can connect in the LAN for PLD200C ? (2007-11)
  • Up to 63 slaves with 1 master, 64 total devices
Up to 4 masters with up to 252 slaves, 256 total devices in 4 AVLNs
Up to 4096 addressable devices including bridged devices
  1. What is the output power, (Max) in the frequency range of 2 to 30 MHz, into the Power Line? (2008-7)
  • For powerline communications purposes, line impedance varies from about 10 to 150 Ohms within the 2 to 30 MHz band in the real environment. Therefore the output power is varied by line impedance. Here we provide the output power based on 50 £[ is about + 5 dB for maximum output power or 8Vpp for maximum output voltage or 15.2mA for maximum output current.
